Winterfaire Craft Show, Halloween celebrations on tap for this weekend in Nevada County

The Craft Guild of Nevada County’s Winterfaire Craft Show, the longest running annual craft show in Nevada County, returns to the Nevada County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The annual craft fair is among several community events on tap in western Nevada County this weekend, just as Halloween approaches Monday night.

According to the fairgrounds website, “the Winterfaire Craft Show has been presented at the Nevada County Fairgrounds for over 40 years and has introduced countless talented local Artists and Craft Workers offering their high-quality, hand-crafted goods for sale.”

Gates are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds.Parking and admission are free.

“Santa will pay us a visit both days to give gifts to all the children that have made his “Nice ” list this year (while supplies last),” the website states. “There will be several free gift drawings throughout the event. The folks at El Favorito will be on site during the event to offer delicious food and beverages.”

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS

Safe Trick or Treat returns to downtown Grass Valley for preschoolers from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. Downtown will be open to shop and take photos with all the Halloween decorations and downtown murals, and displays. Local restaurants will be featuring seasonal goodies.
Later Monday, Nevada City will host Safe Trick or Treat 3-5 p.m. downtown.

HorrorFest will be hosted Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the  “Haunted Studios” of Nevada County
Media’s multimedia facility 355 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley.

The studio tour concludes with the “Haunted Viewing Chamber,” where a variety of short films “will make your skin crawl and hair stand on end.” A “Dark & Twisted” multimedia art showing is also a part of the walk-through experience, with local artists featured throughout the film and art pieces.

The 21st annual ALTAR SHOW: Renewal & Remembrance continues through noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Octo. 30 at the ASiF (Artist Studios in the Foothills), 940 Idaho-Maryland Rd., Grass Valley.

The show will feature small scale art constructions in the form of altars dedicated to persons, memories, concepts, causes and more. The event is considered a gift to the community from altaristas of the Sierra Nevada Foothills. The 2022 Altar Show is held in association with the Miners Foundry, a nonprofit cultural and educational foundation.  Call (530) 265-3900 for more information.

The Stonehouse’s Witches Ball beckons “for a night of spooky , sexy, and swanky celebration to initiate the changing of the seasons, where we will play, pray, and dance into the deep, dark night together.  Music, magic, and mischief will be sure to be found here, with world class musical acts, performers, oracles, and witches to set your intentions for the cycle ahead.”

This music and dance event, from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, features the sounds of Spaniol, Tooker, and Little Dinosaur b2b Timo Granzotti.
