Smartsville
Smartsville dates back to its Gold Rush roots as a hydraulic mining site, when its first building, a hotel built by James Smart, opened shop in 1856. Today, Smartsville (Population: 257) has retained its rural nature — and some of the town’s earliest architecture — with ranching and farming among the favored lifestyles. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the outdoor opportunities the offers, with nearby Lake Englebright, the Yuba Goldfields and the Spenceville Wildlife Area among local favorite places to hike, bike, boat or ride horses. Smartsville is a 15-mile drive west from Grass Valley, nearly halfway to Marysville on Highway 20 and within an hour’s drive to Sacramento International Airport.Sorry we are experiencing system issues.
