South County
Named for Gold Rush-era settler Michael J. Higgins, Higgins Corner serves as the southern gateway to Nevada County, just north of the Bear River along Highway 49 at Wolf and Combie roads. More than just an intersection, Higgins Corner also serves as a hub of commerce and business with new housing development, several small shopping centers, Lake of the Pines and Dark Horse Golf Club, as well as elementary, intermediate and high school campuses. But within just a mile down the road in any direction, rural South County offers a retreat to the pastoral nature of the foothills, with livestock, farms, ranches and estates dotting the landscape portrait.Sorry we are experiencing system issues.
