Happy Thanksgiving! Cornish Christmas celebration starts Friday in downtown Grass Valley

One of Grass Valley’s most anticipated and enjoyed annual events to usher in the holiday season returns Friday, as Cornish Christmas begins its 2022 celebration.
Cornish Christmas is a great way for family and friends to welcome the holiday season on the day after Thanksgiving — and after the hustle and bustle of Black Friday shopping!
Each Friday, 6-9 p.m., leading up to Christmas, Grass Valley Downtown Association welcomes community members and visitors alike downtown to step back in time for a festive celebration of the holidays and the city’s history and Cornish heritage.
The season’s first Cornish Christmas celebration features a 6 p.m tree lighting ceremony at 151 Mill Street, on the front steps of The Union building.
“Downtown Grass Valley will be filled with the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned Christmas; carolers, musicians, and a fire pit to warm your hands,” the event’s website states. “Look for Santa and Mrs. Claus, Snow Queen, the Tree Lady, and other holiday characters. The event hosts craft and food vendors, and the town shops, restaurants, wine-tasting rooms, tap houses, and bars are open. The streets will be awash in festive holiday décor, lights, and sparkling windows.”
