The Nevada County Community Forum hosted another in its series of discussions on local news and issues, including the October topic of the California Fair Plan.
“Ever since the Camp Fire in Northern California’s Butte County in 2018, homeowners in California have struggled to find or keep fire protection homeowners insurance,” TheUnion.com reported.
“Phil Irwin, a FAIR Plan representative, with 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, spoke about the changes for consumers and his work with legislatures at a recent Community Forum held in a lecture hall at Sierra College, Grass Valley campus recently.
“Irwin was introduced as a ‘consumer advocate’ by Cheryl Dell, former Sacramento Bee Publisher and the host of this month’s Community Forum.
“The discussion was followed by a question and answer session where Irwin addressed the mechanics of the FAIR Plan, what is needed from the current legislature versus what the state insurance commissioner can do, and the future of fire protection insurance, especially for California property owners.”
