The Nevada County Community Forum hosted county Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona ahead of the March 5 primary election.
Terry McAteer, former Nevada County superintendent of schools and member of the Forum steering committee, talk with Adona about all things election.
The Forum discussion was the latest in an ongoing series of monthly talks focused on issues of local interest and hosted by the Sierra College Foundation.

“Ballot processing in the County of Nevada is one of the complex responsibilities of Natalie Adona, Nevada County’s clerk-recorder and registrar of voters who was this month’s guest for the Nevada County Community Forum series held at Sierra College, Grass Valley campus last week.
“The Office of the County Clerk-Recorder maintains your records when you get married, start a family, buy a home, start a business, register, and vote.
“Adona spoke with host of the Forum, Terry McAteer about all the preparation that goes on before an election, the facilitating of the election day itself, and processing ballots post-election day.
“There are 75,000 registered voters in Nevada County, and Adona and her team must design 72 different ballots within the County of Nevada to accommodate both Republican and Democrat candidates, all of the various offices running in the five districts.
“It is very complex because there are essentially two primaries on the same ballot, when you vote for president. This is a party nominated contest; that means the parties want voters’ input as to who to select to be their nominee for president,” Adona said. “If you are a registered Republican, you are voting on the Republican ballot. You won’t be entitled to get another party’s ballot unless you re-register.”
