“This Sunday, people across the nation will be celebrating their moms and mother figures; Mother’s Day is May 12. Many local businesses will be offering special events and meals to honor those special ladies, and depending on your taste there is likely something for everyone.
“Emily’s Catering & Cakes is holding a Mother’s Day pop-up May 10 and 11 with pick-up from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Emily’s is encouraging people to order early from their extensive menu which includes but is not limited to cupcakes, pastries, and pies. “A day early, on May 11, Animal Place in Grass Valley will hold a Barnyard Brunch, which will include time to hang out with some furry and feathered rescued friends while enjoying a pleasant outdoor meal. Tickets are $50 and include: an authentic vegan Mexican brunch from the pink food truck of Las Maris. Supplies will be provided for painting flower pots and cider and other juicy beverages will come from the Bubbly Bar. (Kids age two and under can attend for free but will not receive a pot or a beverage.) Tickets for the event are limited and none will be sold at the door. “Also on Saturday, the Master Gardeners of Nevada County will host its annual Spring Plant Sale, offering an array of plants, with plenty of flowers, veggies, and perennials. The sale will take place at the gardener’s demonstration garden on the NID grounds at 1036 West Main Street in Grass Valley from 9:00 a.m. to noon.”
